On September 2-3 the Committee on Industry and Trade of the Swedish parliament visited Shanghai. During the visit the delegation met with officials from the Shanghai Commission of Commerce to discuss trade policy, economic cooperation and the latest development of the Shanghai Free Trade Zone (FTZ).
In addition to bilateral meetings the Consulate General of Sweden in Shanghai organized a roundtable discussion with Swedish companies attended by representatives from both multinational companies and SMEs. The discussion covered a broad range of issues such as intellectual property protection, market entry, and how the government could work to support Swedish companies in China.
On September 3 the delegation visited Volvo Cars and Huawei. At Volvo, the delegation was received by Mr. Yuan Xiaolin, Senior Vice President of Volvo Car Group and President & CEO of Volvo Cars Asia Pacific, who briefed the delegation about the development of Volvo in China and the cooperation with Geely. At Huawei, the delegation was introduced to the company’s 5G technology and briefed of its investments and development in Sweden for the past 20 years.
