Swedish Participation at the Third CIIE

The third China International Import Expo (CIIE) opened on November 4 2020 in Shanghai with an Opening ceremony attended by Swedish Minister for Trade Anna Hallberg via video link. Sweden’s Ambassador to China, Helena Sångeland was present in Shanghai for the ceremony.

Sweden had a significant business presence at this year’s CIIE, and more than 15 Swedish companies had their pavilions at the fair, including sectors as AI and Information Technology, Medical Equipment and Health Care products, Automobile, and Food and Agriculture Products.

On 6 November Sweden’s Minister for Business, Industry and Innovation Ibrahim Baylan delivered a video message at the signing of an agreement between BioVenturesHub Gothenburg and iCampus Incubation Hub in Wuxi, an event witnessed in person by Ambassador Sångeland.

During the CIIE, Ambassador Sångeland and Sweden’s Consul General in Shanghai Marie-Claire Swärd Capra visited several of the Swedish company pavilions at the Expo.  Consul General Swärd Capra visited the pavilions of Volvo Group, Zinzino, IKEA, Pernod Ricard (Absolut), Nord-Lock and AstraZeneca. She also took part in the inauguration of the Nordic Hub showroom arranged by Scandic Foods. Additionally, Ambassador Sångeland visited the pavilions AstraZeneca, Volvo Cars, ABB, Getinge, IKEA and Ericsson.

In addition to the numerous company related activities throughout the week, the Consulate staff also took part in several important conferences, such as the Shanghai City Promotion Convention, the Nordic Sustainable Health Forum, Sino-Nordic Hubei Trade and Economic Cooperation Forum, and the Domestic and International Dual Cycle Policy Conference in the Yangtze River Delta.
