The Consulate General of Sweden in Shanghai hosted a screening of the Swedish film Triangle of Sadness at Xintiandi Style UME International Cinema in Shanghai on 14 April.
Written and directed by Swedish filmmaker Ruben Östlund, Triangle of Sadness shines a spotlight on an uninhibited satire where roles and class are inverted, and the tawdry economic value of beauty is unveiled. The film is produced by Erik Hemmendorff and Philippe Bober, Plattform Produktion, with support from the Swedish Film Institute and Film i Väst.
Triangle of Sadness has attracted attention both in Sweden and at major international film festivals. The film has for example received six awards at Swedish Guldbagge Awards 2023 (Best Film, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor and Actress, Best Production Design and Best Makeup) and the Palme d'Or Cannes 2022.
Consul General Marie-Claire Swärd Capra delivered opening remarks. More than 120 people attended the screening.
