The exhibition Swedish Design Stories opened yesterday at Design Shanghai, Asia’s Leading International Design Event. After welcoming remarks by the consulate, local curator Yan Mi gave media and invited guests a guided tour of the exhibition.
Developed by the Swedish Institute, Swedish Design Stories is about the lasting impact of craft, artistic practice and social engagement on Swedish design during the past 15 years. It presents designers that have been pioneers within their field and created new design stories. Their creations show another side of Swedish design that is more dynamic and forward-looking, setting the exhibition apart from the minimalist design which Sweden is otherwise famous for. Among the designers featured are Front, Färg & Blance and Märta Mattson.
This is the fourth time that the Consulate General is taking part of Design Shanghai. Apart from Sweden Design Stories there are five Swedish design brands that are exhibiting at the fair: ASKO, Bolon, Hans K, Rowico and Wallvision. We hope you have time to visit them and take the opportunity to fully experience Swedish design.
Design Shanghai 2019 takes place at Shanghai Exhibition Center and will go on until March 9. For tickets and more information about the fair, please visit https://www.designshanghai.com/
