Swedish cuisine on the Bund

On March 24 some 60 guests participated in a Swedish cooking class and tasting session at B5 Salon on the Bund in Shanghai. Oscar Järleby from Swedish restaurant SVEA taught an intrigued audience how to make genuine Swedish meatballs. The event was organized by the Consulate General of Sweden in Shanghai in partnership with Chinese catering e-commerce platform ENJOY and B5 Salon on the Bund.

Deputy Consul General Sebastian Magnusson welcomed the guests, which included media, online influencers and local food aficionados. Advertised as “A taste of Sweden”, the event presented Swedish dishes courtesy of the chefs at SVEA, Swedish desserts from online bakery FIKA and cider from Swedish brand Rekorderlig. To ensure immersion in Swedish food culture Consulate staff gave a brief presentation on key concepts like the Swedish fika.

The cooking class with Oscar Järleby from SVEA was followed by a tasting session, where guests had the opportunity to taste meatballs, toast skagen, princess cake, chocolate spheres and other Swedish dishes.
