On 15 March IKEA launched its TestLab and Training Centre phase 2 (ITTC2) in Shanghai. Mr Sebastian Magnusson, Deputy Consul General of Sweden in Shanghai, attended the opening ceremony.
As the first IKEA owned test lab outside Sweden, ITTC strives to be the IKEA Centre of Excellence offering the best quality and value for testing, nechnical training and technical support. Since starting formal operation in January 2010, the test lab has been conducting tests on IKEA products such as furniture, toys, curtains and materials like textiles, leather, food contact materials, packaging materials and components and chemical tests. Covering an area of 15,000 square meters, the center is expected to reach a test report volume of 210,000 test methods in 2018.

ITTC takes a critical role by having precision in testing and always looking for new ways of working, more efficient and cost conscious, which contributes a lot to quality improvement and lower prices," says Catarina Löwenadler, Deputy Managing Director, IKEA of Sweden.
Besides Mr Magnusson, Mr David Hallgren, Trade Commissioner & Country Manager (China) of Business Sweden, Mr WENG Leigang, General Manager of Shanghai Industrial Comprehensive Development Zone, and representatives from IKEA's 11 business units and ITTC customers attended the launching event.
