On June 27, during the Deaf-Blind Awareness Week 2023, the Consulate General of Sweden and the UK jointly arranged a screening of a series of short films on June 27 to raise awareness of the rights of people with disabilities, inclusivity, and accessibility.
The event was hosted at the UK Consulate General in Shanghai and attended by Consul General of the UK Andrew McAllister and Deputy Consul General of Sweden Jakob Holthuis.
Two short films from Sweden, Being a Dog by Felix Swahn and Portrait of a Giant by Lizette Gunnarsson, were screened during the evening. The films screened were either focusing on the importance of an inclusive society or made by artists with different types of disabilities. The films were followed by a discussion with the main organizer of the Shanghai International Deaf Film Festival. Around 50 people attend the event.
