On 18 March, the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Shanghai held a Women’s Safety Forum at the Shanghai Power Station of Art. Consul General of Sweden in Shanghai Lisette Lindahl spoke at the forum and participated in a panel discussion. Her speech focused on Women, Peace and Security, which is one of the focal points of Sweden’s Feminist Foreign Policy.
The Women’s Safety Forum was a special event for the 2019 International Women's Day, with discussions on the theme “Global movement on women empowerment: eradicating domestic violence and discrimination against women”. Lindahl talked about the widespread violence against women in armed conflicts and emphasized the importance of women’s participation in peace-making processes.
Among the other speakers were host Richard Krpač, Consul General of the Czech Republic in Shanghai, Dr. Kateřina imáčková, Judge of the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic and Feng Yuan, co-founder of Equality, an NGO for women’s rights and gender equality. The event also included the photo exhibition “The Mother of Escape” by Tomáš Třeštík and a self-defence workshop.
