On October 23, the exhibition “Laterna Magica: Ingmar Bergman and his legacy in art and fashion” organized by the Consulate General of Sweden in Shanghai and China Shanghai International Arts Festival was inaugurated at Hong Kong Plaza in Shanghai. It is one of four Swedish program items at this year’s Arts Festival.
To celebrate the world-famous filmmaker Ingmar Bergman’s 100th anniversary, the Consulate General has brought the Swedish Institute’s exhibition to Shanghai and commissioned Swedish-Chinese curator Wang Kaimei to adapt it for a Chinese audience, including a complete translation into Chinese. Representatives from the Consulate General, the Arts Festival, Middle Huaihai Road Sub-district Office, Hong Kong Plaza and Qidu Gallery as well as 60 other guests from media and the cultural scene in Shanghai attended the inauguration. Consul General Lisette Lindahl gave the opening speech.
Apart from the exhibition, this year’s Arts Festival will present three more titles from Sweden, including Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra Piano Quartet’s concerts, GöteborgsOperans Danskompani’s modern dance “Noetic/Untitled Black”, and the Romeo and Juliet Choir’s “Wood Painting”.
