Swedish food, games, summer songs and music performances by children. For the second year in a row the Consulate General celebrated the Swedish National Day with a family friendly outdoor reception in central Shanghai.
Drawing inspiration from a Swedish midsummer meadow and highlighting the Swedish companies present in Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Anhui, the celebration was attended by 1 200 guests, including more than 250 children. Apart from 22 activity stations including paper making, mini cars and biking your smoothie, the evening had a musical theme.
The Swedish Choir in Shanghai sang traditional Swedish summer songs, and the Consulate General had invited the winners of an online song contest for children to perform on stage. Seven talented acts, aged 5 to 11, dazzled the audience with renditions of Chinese and Swedish (albeit in English) songs. Representatives from government, business, cultural life, media and the Swedish community in Shanghai were all present for a memorable evening.
The Swedish National Day celebration was organized by the Consulate General together with Business Sweden, Visit Sweden, the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in China and 26 Swedish companies based in Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Anhui.
