From 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, until 10 December, Human Rights Day, the Embassy of Sweden in Beijing is joining the UN to mark the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence. The Embassy of Sweden will be lit up in orange every evening for the coming 16 days under the global theme “UNiTE! Activism to end violence against women and girls”.
The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual campaign that begins on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs through International Human Rights Day on 10 December.
As a bright and optimistic colour, orange represents a future free from violence against women and girls.
Sweden has diplomatic relations with almost all States in the world. It has embassies and consulates in around half of these. Sweden's foreign representation consists of approximately 100 missions abroad and 350 honorary consulates.
