Welcome to the Embassy of Sweden in Beijing. Our task is to represent Sweden, the Swedish Government in China and to promote Swedish interests.
Sweden and China share a long history of cooperation. Sino-Swedish exchange is growing and incorporates a broad range of issues such as an open and constructive political dialogue on international issues and human rights.
Trade promotion and development cooperation are important tasks for the Embassy, as well as press- and culture issues and migration- and consular services.
The Embassy's sphere of responsibility includes Mongolia. The Ambassador is also accredited to Ulaanbaatar.
The Embassy of Sweden in Beijing employs around 60 staff in an organisation divided into five teams.
Political Affairs follows the political developments in China, including the situation in the field of human rights, and reports to the Government Offices in Stockholm.
The Defence Attaché is responsible for bilateral military contacts between the Swedish Armed Forces and the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
Migration handles visa issues and issues regarding work and residence permits in Sweden.

Economic and trade affairs is responsible for trade promotion and reporting on economic, financial and trade policy matters.
Agriculture and forestry promotes and reports on “green industry”.
Responsible business promotes cooperation and knowledge on sustainable business and corporate social responsibility (CSR).
Science, innovation, and higher education is responsible for cooperation and reporting in these areas and promotes Sweden as an attractive knowledge nation. Is responsible also for environmental and climate matters.

Public Diplomacy, Press and Communication focus on promoting Sweden and Swedish values. Also responsible for traditional and social media as well as promoting Sweden as a study destination.
Cultural Affairs introduces various aspects of Swedish culture in China as well as promotes and facilitates exchanges in the cultural field.
Operations and Consular Affairs provide consular service to the public, handles internal administration of the Embassy and is responsible for the property and maintenance of the Embassy facility.
