Changes for you that are residing in Bosnia and Hercegovina and want to apply for a Schengen visa
Applications for Schengen visas from applicants residing in Bosnia and Hercegovina will from January 16th 2025 be handled by the Embassy of Sweden in Skopje, North Macedonia. The Embassy in Sweden in Sarajevo will no longer handle applications for Schengen visas from this date.
In practical terms this means that if you are residing in Bosnia and Hercegovina, and want to apply for a Schengen visa from January 16th 2025, you will have to visit the office of the external service provider VFS Global in Sarajevo and submit your application there. The application and passport will be sent to the Embassy of Sweden in Skopje, which will process the application and make a decision.
The passport and decision will then be returned to VFS Global in Sarajevo, where you can collect them. Please note, the Embassy of Sweden in Sarajevo will not be involved in the visa process. Consequently, questions regarding visas should be directed to VFS Global´s callcenter
You will, apart from the visa fee, be obliged to pay a service fee to VFS Global that amounts to 80 euros. Transport of the application and the passport to and from Skopje is included in the service fee.
