1: How do I apply for a passport/ID-card?
To apply for a passport or ID-card you need to book an appointment online.
The following documents in original are needed when applying for a passport/ID-card for adults:
- Valid passport
- Complete and print the form "Verification of Swedish citizenship".
- A current newly issued Austrian "Meldebestätigung"
- An international birth certificate if you are born outside of Sweden and have never been registered in Sweden
- In some cases, you also need a certificate that you have retained Swedish citizenship, or a citizenship declaration from the Swedish Migration Agency (Losing or retaining Swedish citizenship)
- In some cases, the embassy may require additional documents to establish citizenship
The following documents in original are needed when applying for a passport/ID-card for children:
- Valid passport for the child
- Both parents' valid passports.
- Complete and print the form "Verification of Swedish citizenship" for the child.
- Complete and print the form "Guardian's certificate". (If the child only has one guardian we need to see legally valid proof)
- A current newly issued Austrian "Meldebestätigung"
- An international birth certificate if the child is born outside of Sweden and has never been registered in Sweden
- In some cases, the embassy may require additional documents to establish citizenship
