The Young Courage Award, organised by the Raoul Wallenberg Academy (RWA), honours people between the ages of 13 and 20 who have made a difference in the lives of their fellow human beings and shown evidence of moral courage and commitment.
We know many young Australians and New Zealanders are driving change through their courageous actions—standing up against bullying and injustices, creating safe spaces, and helping those in need. To give them the recognition they deserve, we're inviting everyone to nominate young people for this award!
The nomination process is simple. If you know a young person who fits the description above, we invite you to send their name and a short motivation to ambassaden.canberra-events@gov.se no later than Monday, 31 March 2025.
In addition to receiving official diplomas, potential recipients will be invited to represent Australia and New Zealand at the official award ceremony in Stockholm, Sweden, at the end of August 2025, in connection to Raoul Wallenberg Remembrance Day.
This year marks the first time Australia and New Zealand are participating.

More about the Young Courage Award
This international award was created to commemorate the altruistic deeds carried out by the Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg in the final years of WWII. By issuing protective passports and creating safe houses, Wallenberg saved tens of thousands of Jews from the Holocaust.
The centenary of the birth of Raoul Wallenberg was commemorated in 2012, and many events were organised throughout Australia. In 2013, Raoul Wallenberg was made Australia's first Honorary Citizen and Australia Post has since honoured him with an Australia Post stamp.
