On 19 November 2019, Ann Linde visited Albania. She met with Prime Minister Edi Rama, Acting Foreign Minister Gent Cakaj and leader of the Democratic Party Lulzim Basha to discuss the ongoing reform process and to reaffirm the close relations between Albania and Sweden. Furthermore, they spoke about the domestic political situation and Albania's upcoming OSCE presidency.
Albania and Sweden celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations and 20 years of reform cooperation in 2019. The visit by Minister Linde serves to reaffirm the close relations between the two countries and reiterate Sweden's strong support to Albania's ongoing reform process and EU-integration. The Swedish reform cooperation with Albania amounts to around 12 million euro/year and makes Sweden one of the largest bilateral donors to Albania.
