A larger earthquake with the magnitude of 6,3 struck Albania the 26th of November with the epicenter north of the city Durrës, followed by several aftershocks of various magnitudes. The areas around Durrës and Thumanë are strongly affected. Sweden has sent an expert to join a team of experts from other member states in the EU’s emergency response team. The EU and the international community are currently on the ground to assist central and local authorities.
Sweden stands in solidarity with Albania. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families in this very difficult time.
