A Swedish funded project supporting the strengthening of Albania’s water resources management agency (AMBU) was procured by Albanian partners last year. Unfortunately the procurement process had to be cancelled after the Swedish Embassy couldn’t approve the technical evaluation report.
The reason for not approving the report were the observations made by the embassy’s contracted water expert in regards to irregularities in the evaluation committee which were not in line with good procurement standards. Sweden can never accept procurements which are not fair and transparent and Sweden has a strong anti-corruption policy.
Sweden will take over the responsibility for the procurement of this project and launch a new procurement in March.
