ABBA, art, film and music was at the center at the first ever Swedish Culture week in Albania. Between 12-18 September 2022, the Embassy of Sweden organised activities in Tirana, Shkodra and Gjirokaster, all relating to Sweden and the relationship with Albania. All activites were free to enter which led to a great attendance!
The week kicked off with a day of Sustainability as well as the grand opening ceremony. Workshops were held together with Swedish Architects Anton Kolbe and Per Nadén and fashion designer Josephine Gennert. The Swedish Institute Exhibition “Sustain Able Voices” premiered in Destil.
On the second day of the week the Embassy continued on with #SwedenOnTour and visited Shkodra. Our partners participated as well as Shkodra Municipality. The day ended with a win in the football game against Shkodra Municipality.
In the end of the week we had Swedish Film Nights where we showed four Swedish films, "Tigers", "The Choir", "Martha&Niki" and "Children of the Enemy". The Producer of the film “Tigers” Piodor Gustafsson and the director of the film “The Choir” Amanda Pesikan were present and had many good interactions with the Albanian film industry.
We think that everyone who participated in the Swedish Culture Week agrees that the highlight of the week was the ABBA Tribute Band concert at Sheshi Itallia (square). TV star Ermal Peçi opened the evening and a video from original ABBA member Björn Ulveaus was displayed. It was a real dance party.
We want to thank our partners, Ministry of Culture, Tirana & Shkodra Municipality, but most of all, everyone that came to the events.
