How to apply for a Visa

The fastest and easiest way to submit your Visa application is to apply at one of the VFS offices in Riyadh, Jeddah or Dammam. Below you will find the procedure.

Applying via VFS Global in Saudi Arabia
The Embassy cooperates with VFS Global, to improve the service available to you when applying for a visa. You present your application in person to VFS Global and they can also provide you with information and other kinds of service.

How to apply

The quickest and easiest way to apply for a visa is to visit VFS Global.

You and the accompanying persons must be present at the time of the submition of the application. This applies even though you had a Schengen visa before. Sweden Visa Application Centres run by VFS Global in:

Wait for the decision

PLEASE NOTE: The processing time at the Embassy is 15 days.

When you present your application, you will be informed of the procedures for collection of the decision and your passport. Please observe that all visa applications are handled and decided by the Embassy of Sweden in Riyadh.

No documents should be sent to the Embassy, unless you a specifically asked to do so. Note that the documents submitted are a basis for the examination of the application. It does not mean that the visa application must be granted.

Visa from Oman and Yemen

Applications for a visa to Sweden from Oman and Yemen should be submitted to the following embassies:

If you are legally residing in Oman, contact the Embassy of the Netherlands to apply for a Schengen-visa.

Yemen
Since the Embassy of France in Sana´a is closed, visa applications can be submitted at the Embassy of France in Djibouti or at the Embassy of Sweden in Cairo. This is a provisional arrangement and applies only during the period when the French Embassy is closed.

Applying on a paper form

If you cannot apply via the VFS Global (Swedish Visa Application Centre), you present your application forms and other documents in person at the Swedish embassy. You have to make an appointment, and the processing period might be longer. How to proceed:

1. Prepare the documentation

Check which documents and personal information you need, depending on which visa you are applying for.

2. Make an appointment

To make an appointment at the Embassy of Sweden, you send an e-mail to visa.riyadh@gov.se. You need to mention name of all applicants, planned entry date in Schengen and the purpose of the visit. The Embassy have a limited number of appointments on Tuesdays only.

3. Pay the application fee

4. Visit the embassy

Bring the completed application form and all other required documents at the appointed time. If you do not have all the documents with you, there is a risk that your application will be rejected. During the visit, you may be required to answer some additional questions. Biometric information will be taken (ten fingerprints and a photograph). You pay the applicatoin fee at the Embassy via card.

All family members who apply at the same time – including children – must visit the embassy.

5. Wait for the decision

You will be contacted when you can pick up your passport and decision at the Embassy. The processing time is 15 days.
