All applicants must visit the Embassy in person to leave biometrics, including minors. Children under six years do not have to leave biometrics. A visit in person is though required for the Embassy to verify all applicants´ passports and identity.
If you made an on-line application, you will receive a notification on your e-mail given at registration, as soon as the decision will be taken. You can also check the status of your application on the Migration Agency website. To know if the decision is negative or positive, you can contact the Embassy of Sweden in Moscow or the Migration Agency. For someone else to take part of your decision, that person must have a power of attorney from you.
If it is a positive decision, and the biometrics has already been taken, your residence permit card will be ordered and be delivered to the Embassy of Sweden in Moscow within about 4-6 weeks. You can pick it up personally or give a power of attorney to a third person.
If the decision is negative, then you need to get a copy of the decision. You have the possibility to appeal the decision. This must be done within 3 weeks from the moment you were informed that you decision is negative. Information on how to appeal is attached to the decision.
If you have already left your biometrics it usually takes 4-6 weeks after the decision to produce and deliver the residence permit card to the Embassy of Sweden in Moscow. Otherwise it will be delivered 4-6 weeks after you leave your biometrics.
You can enter Sweden as soon as you receive your residence permit card. You can enter Sweden during the validity period of your residence permit, but please notice that a late arrival to Sweden might be taken into account when considering an extension application. The same goes if you stay outside Sweden for longer periods during the validity period of your permit.
If your residence permit is valid for more than a year, you should contact Skatteverket to get a personal number and register.
