Biometrics
Biometrics for permit applications can only be submitted at the Embassy of Sweden in New Delhi. No prior appointment is required & you can visit embassy on the opening hours.
Applicants must visit at some point when applying to submit biometrics for the residence permit card (bring the passport registered in the application for identification).
Biometrics can either be submitted before or after the decision on your residence permit application. Biometrics can also be submitted together with passport verification (if requested by the Swedish Migration Agency).
Passport Checks
The Swedish Migration Agency has introduced new rules for better passport checks for residence permit applicants.
From 1st November 2022 applicants for a residence permit must present their passport in-person at the Embassy before the Swedish Migration Agency can grant a permit.
The Migration Agency will contact applicants to schedule an appointment with the Embassy for a passport and identity validation.
The Embassy of Sweden in India is responsible for applications when the applicant is legally residing in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Maldives or Bhutan. If you legally reside in any of these countries your passport check will be in India.
After you have received an e-mail stating that you should contact the Embassy for a passport check, you may visit the Embassy of Sweden in India during our opening hours. No appointment is needed prior to your visit.
If there is no request for passport verification and you decided to submit biometrics, then embassy will not conduct passport verification but submit biometrics, in result you might have to visit the embassy again if a request is generated by the Swedish Migration Agency in future.
