11: How do I apply for a provisional passport?

The application procedure to apply for a provisional passport differs from the procedure to apply for a regular passport. Please contact the embassy as soon as possible if you have lost your regular passport and need to travel back home. A provisional passport is issued directly upon application and applies to a journey home to Sweden or to the country of your residence. Therefore, you must prove your need for a provisional passport by showing a ticket or a booking. You must be able to identify yourself.

Please also keep in mind that your regular passport will be revoked, if it is still valid, when you apply for a provisional passport.
