Swedish ID number and Name Registration
A child applicant who was born abroad and has never had a Swedish passport must first be added to the Swedish population register by applying for a Swedish personal identification number (samordningsnummer). The application for ID number can be done at the Embassy and is free of charge. More detailed information about the structure and function of ID numbers is available from the Swedish Tax Agency .
An ID number can only be requested for the purpose of applying for a passport. A passport application shall therefore be handed in at the Embassy as soon as possible after the ID number has been issued.
Please make an appointment for submitting the application (chose "Apply for Swedish passport or id document" as reson for the appointment). Book here
