For children born abroad who have never had a passport before and who have never been residents or registered in Sweden, an application for a coordination number must be made before a passport can be issued.
The coordination number is issued by the Swedish Tax Agency, and the Embassy applies for it. An application for a coordination number can be submitted at the Embassy in Dublin, and the child must be present in person along with both legal guardians.
Applications for ordinary passports (or national ID cards) can be made at police authorities in Sweden and at Swedish Embassies abroad that are authorised to carry out ordinary passport services. Information is available on the Police's website.
Specify where you wish to collect your passport at the time of application. You can collect your new passport at the Swedish Embassy in Dublin during our visiting hours or at another Swedish foreign mission, for a handling fee of €17 payable at the Embassy upon collection.
