All passport applicants must apply in person at the Embassy of Sweden in Ottawa. To apply for a passport you must have a Swedish personal identity number or a coordination number. Appointments must be booked in advance. It normally takes 4-5 weeks for your passport to be ready. You can pick up your passport at the Embassy in Ottawa or at one of our consulates in Canada (at an additional cost). Please note you must pick up the passport in person.
A change of name must be registered with the Swedish Tax Authority (Skatteverket) before applying for a new passport. Passports issued are based on the current information in the Population registry.
The following is required at the time of application. All supporting documents must be originals or notarized copies.
The application fee is payable by debit card, credit card or in cash at the time of application.
Please note that it is up to the applicant to prove his/her Swedish citizenship and to obtain all required documents.
