What is required regarding photos and fingerprints when applying for a Swedish ordinary passport/national ID card or emergency passport in Australia depends on which document you are applying for, and where you are applying.
When applying for a Swedish ordinary passport/national ID card at the Embassy of Sweden in Canberra, the applicant’s photo and fingerprints must be taken digitally at the time of application using technical equipment stationed at the Embassy. Physical passport photos are not needed. Children under a certain age are exempt from the fingerprint requirement, in these cases only a digital photo is required.
When applying for a Swedish emergency passport at the Embassy of Sweden in Canberra, the applicant’s photo is taken digitally at the time of application using technical equipment stationed at the Embassy. Physical passport photos are not needed. Fingerprints are not required.
When applying for a Swedish emergency passport at one of Sweden's Honorary Consulates in Australia, 2 physical passport photos of the applicant must be brought to the time of application, the photos must not be more than 6 months old. Fingerprints are not required.
